Meghan Markle’s Life as Royalty is No Fairytale

Meghan Markle went through a twist in her life that most girls would consider a story right out of a fairy-tale novel. However, this was not a dream come true for Meghan, after her marriage to Prince Harry. Meghan Markle a commoner, born to inter-racial parents was an actress who played the role of her life by wooing Prince Harry to marry her, hoping she would become a Princess. But Meghan’s reality of palace life was a living nightmare, so much so that she moved her entire family to Southern California, to posh neighborhood where A-List celebrities like Oprah lives, a town called Montecito.

Even after a purchasing a $14 million home using Diana’s money left for Prince Harry, it seems as though even this has not made Meghan happy. Her sit-down to an exclusive special interview with fellow neighbor, Oprah Winfrey, where she trashed the royal family and her sister-in-law, Kate, she was still not satisfied. Meghan wants her millions (deals with Netflix, Spotify which never amount to anything) and she wants to move to a bigger mansion because her current estate just doesn’t feel like home…and sadly, she will be dragging Prince Harry through the mud to get what she wants.

After completing the one-year anniversary as the royal couple and publishing news about the little baby Archie, sources have been addressing that Meghan is perhaps not satisfied with how her past year has been filled with rules upon rules rather than a real-life fairy-tale. 

The public, members of the royal family, and Meghan’s friends and family all doubted whether Meghan was even sure of how big of a responsibility she was getting herself into while she was still engaged with Prince Harry and now, we are all certain that Meghan knows these complexities and the difference between an American and Royalty better than anybody.

Meghan was never the type to be camera shy or get confused by spotting one too many interviewers outside the building. But being a royalty, that attention has increased by ten-fold, and it is inevitable that even though Meghan has experience with handling fame, this level of attention is something she had not imagined even in her dreams.

While there were more than enough supporters for Meghan and Prince Harry for tying the knot and even the Royal Family showed nothing but love, there were a number of people who gave negative comments towards the Royal couple as well.

These negative comments increased to the point that an official notice against these comments had to be published.

Duncan Lacombe once mentioned that once things settle and Meghan gets exposed to all the attention, she will realize that this is no fairy-tale; instead, it is a complicated reality.

Now that both Meghan and Harry have been successfully married for almost three years and have a baby, it is inevitable that Meghan knows of this reality.

The Queen has made it sure to clearly speak to their grandsons and told them to get married very carefully and after great thoughts because once that ring has chosen a finger, it will not be coming off.

These comments hurt Meghan personally, along with her image in the Royal Family and in the palace about whether she was worthy of being Royalty or not.

At the wedding, Instead of the father, Meghan’s sister decided to join the party by showing nothing but negativity for the royal couple.

At one point, she even mentioned on one of her social media reels that Prince Harry should have chosen someone who would be considered more suitable to be Royalty, perhaps someone like the late Princess Diana.

Some would say that Meghan became a Duchess overnight, and this is like a dream come true. When Meghan had to pay a considerable price and struggle more than many people could even imagine.

She left behind her career as an actress, which she worked so hard on and gave up her normal everyday life for Prince Harry and herself.

When most people consider becoming Royalty, they do not consider the price that comes along with it. Meghan was just another actress rising to fame and having a successful career when she decided to leave everything on the side as soon as things got serious between her and Prince Harry. This included giving up her private house, her me-time, all the activities she would take part in as an actress, and any privacy that she could get previously.

Meghan left behind the life she had been living as a person and all the roles that she had landed or was already doing to be with Prince Harry. That is something most people cannot even imagine, and it is a very expensive fairy-tale that came to reality for Meghan.

Another price that Meghan had to pay in order to become part of the Royal Family was to give up her rights to be in charge of any of her decisions in the near future. This ranges from any and every occasion all the way to what she can wear to the dining table in the morning.

Because Meghan is now part of the Royal Family, she will be considered part of Britain after a particular time has been over. This also means that she will have to say goodbye to her US citizenship and her close relationship with her mother.

However, Meghan can still apply for dual citizenship after she has officially become a British national.

Although things which are portrayed on social media and on the news are not that positive, we certainly hope that the genuine relationships that Meghan and the Royal Family are actually better than the sad reality of it or at least get better in the near future as there is no turning back for Meghan now that she is married into the Royal Family.

In general, the public can only hope that things stay as good between the Prince and herself as they are right now, if not better. The couple also became a family recently, so everybody has their eyes on the newlyweds and observing how they manage to take care of the new Royal baby and what awaits their future.

The Royal Experts stated that the couple needs to be mindful of the changes that are taking place and need to maintain their Popularity properly. The experts did not appear in much distress with regards to the two as currently, it feels like that together, Meghan and Prince Harry can overcome any obstacle that comes their way.

Even though the public is loving the new couple and the royal baby, we never know how long this love will last and how long will the people’s opinions remain the same. Both Meghan and  Prince Harry need to be very careful with their activities and involvements as it does not take that long for a tide to take a turn towards the bad.

While people love to see their Royals all dressed up and looking gorgeous, the faces take a very dark turn when the public realizes that the money for this extravagant lifestyle comes from the hard-earned tax money of the people and how expensive the dressing is of the Royal family can actually be. This can be both a positive for the well-dressed Royalty and a negative for wasting money.

Upon the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Queen decided to gift them her Frogmore Cottage, which was later used by the couple as their getaway one month before little baby Archie was born. However, before Meghan and Prince Harry could move into the cottage, they had $3.8 million spent on the renovations to have it up to the couple’s standards. These renovations were no ordinary renovations, both Meghan and the Prince turned the entire house upside down. They got a new, fully functional date kitchen installed in the cottage from scratch. Some passable walk-in closets were added for easier access to clothing, and come fully furnished bathrooms were also added. The entire renovation was of the highest quality possible at the time. The Royal Couple also hired the world’s most renowned interior designer and had them do the interior of the entire house from scratch. Even the ornaments and other minor details were redone.

Once the actual price for the Frogmore Cottage was made public, people went crazy after realizing that so much of their tax money was used up for a cottage that wasn’t even lived in after a few months. Critics tried to calm the uproar by announcing that not all of the renovations were done by the public’s taxes and that some of the money was actually chipped in by the royal couple themselves. Both Meghan and Prince Harry also claimed that they would return the $3.8 Million that they ended up using for the cottage renovation. However, this still seemed too much money for such a temporary renovation, and some of the things that were included in the renovation almost seemed unnecessary, like the most successful interior designer. But, where there is darkness, there is always light. While some were complaining about the spending of the Royal couple, many claimed that it was alright as the royal family is also the source of a lot of that income.

So why was such an expensive renovation deemed necessary in the first place? Was this a justifiable investment or did Meghan let the glamorous fairytale lifestyle go to her head? Opinions differ on that matter.

Apparently Frogmore Cottage was actually a few separate living quarters before the renovation and was reportedly in need of some substantial renovations. Sir Michael Stevens, who manages the finances of the Royal Family, even stated the property had already been earmarked for renovations for some time.

But some are still questioning if all the details of the renovations were really necessary. It seems like a lot more than basic upkeep was done, which is the kind of thing that could quickly turn people against this golden couple.

Reportedly Meghan and Harry had a brand new luxury kitchen installed, several bathrooms and fitted wardrobes. And that’s not even all. A renowned interior designer was hired to design the entire interior- and the tax payers paid for that too.

Perhaps it makes sense to use an interior designer for such a major and complex renovation as was done on the cottage. But should really taxpayers pay for that added luxury?

Officials from Kensington Palace responded to the criticism and said Meghan and Harry did pay for some parts of the renovations themselves. But only fixtures and fittings. Compared to all the expenses the British public paid for, some say that hardly seems like a fair splitting of costs.

Harry might have been a prince his whole life, and as such he is of course wealthier than his wife Meghan. But she has a pretty decent net worth herself. She was reportedly paid around $50,000 per episode when she was a part of the hit law series Suits.

That’s not a bad income and surely allowed her to save up for things such as travels, shopping- and home renovations. But how much Meghan herself pitched in for the Frogmore Cottage refurb is unclear, as officials don’t disclose all the details surrounding the payments for the renovation.

Britain just like many European countries have a decent economy, but that doesn’t mean every citizen is living comfortably. On the contrary, there are many who struggle to make ends meet. That might be part of the reason some have taken offence by the recent news about the expensive Frogmore Cottage renovation.

But others on the other hand claim the cost is being blown out of proportion, considering the Royal Family also brings a lot of value and income to the country.

More than 2.7 million tourists are attracted to Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and the Royal Castle in Windsor. The public is always wowed to view the ways of the Royalty, and this ends up becoming one of the easiest methods of income for both the Royal Family and for the entirety of London and Britain as a whole.

The total income that is generated from the Royal family was last reported at $2.2 Billion in the National economy, and this was recorded before the newly popular couple was anywhere close to getting married.

This is why it is safe to say that some of the spending that the Royal couple did might actually have been covered up by the cash that was flowing in with their Popularity. However, since the two are still a new couple, critics have been saying for them to be very careful as Popularity can both skyrocket and go downhill overnight at this point of their marriage.

But the Royal couple forbade any media on the day of the Christianity, and the only pictures that did make a cut were both placed shots by the Royal Family.

This unpopularity started back when the couple would not let their baby be a public figure and manage his exposure to the public, and many people were criticizing the couple for being possessive and destroying the Royal traditions.

In a documentary that took place while the couple was staying in Africa for their tour, Meghan openly admitted that she was having issues with coping with all the changing scenarios and the stresses that follow the life of Royalty. She also admitted that even though she knew this new road would be no fun and games, she never expected it to take so many rough turns and that it was precisely what she was left to experience.

Soon it was getting hard for Meghan to find herself a reason to show a smile. Even though the couple was supposed to be happy with a newborn baby and a successful marriage, the increasing hate bought Meghan to her breaking point, and she started to struggle with the perfect picture of being a Royalty.

Meghan has friends in both America as well as in Britain. Even though her American friends were more than happy and supportive of her marriage with Prince Harry, her British friends were all concerned and warned her before she tied the knot.

They told Meghan that this marriage would not bring her the happily ever after, instead the media would eat her alive, and the expectations and pressure might actually end up breaking the girl altogether.

Even though speaking of the struggles that the Royal family faces is not something familiar and Meghan might actually be changing things for the better. There will be people who love the Royal couple and support them through the journey,

but there will be those who are against it as well. What we can appreciate unanimously is Meghan speaking out about the things that the Royal family has to go through on a daily because this can both bring light to the public and potentially change the overly strict rules that the Royal Family has in place.

On On November 25, 2020, during the pandemic, Meghan revealed in a set of tweets via Times news that the couple was actually expecting a second child on the way but unfortunately had a miscarriage and are now healing through the pains of this loss.
