An Exceptional Pregnancy Which Occurs Once in 500 Years

One of the most exciting phases of of every woman’s life is the pregnancy phase. To every woman, it is always a memorable journey from the first to the ninth month because there is no greater joy than the joy of motherhood. They are always curious to know what happens throughout the trimesters. How the baby develops at every stage and what the growth looks like. It is even more exciting for woman if they are more than just a baby in the womb. 

It is true that being a parent comes with a whole lot of lessons every single day. However, some women do go through more lessons than the others when it comes to motherhood and parenting. Nevertheless, in the past 480 years, no pregnancy has been reported and talked about like that of Alexandra Kinova. Alexandra Kinova was living the life that she wanted and her husband Antonin Kroscen showered her with all the love and affection she could ask of and he also so show the same love to their little son. Kinova and Kroscen made a decision to increase their family and Alexandra took-in in no due time. This pregnancy became so different from what other women have had in 500 years.

The thoughts of having baby together was on the mind of Alexandra and her new husband and they also thought of having twins as it will mean to them having two babies in one pregnancy. Alexandra Kinova and her new husband Antonin Kroscen decided to build a family and to have another child when Alexandra was twenty-three years old. Also, Alexandra already has a son from her last relationship.

Just like every other woman during child birth, Alexandra has gone to the hospital for delivery tensed but yet excited, nervous but still curious, somewhat afraid but still courageous and optimistic. Though she has been through child birth before now – when she had her first baby, but that was some years back and maybe she is now unsure about how the process feels. Perhaps because her first was quite difficult and marked with some labor complications. What more? This time, the anxity is not only on Alexandra, but her family, her husband, the media, and the hospital staffs are so eager to receive the news of her delivery.

Because of the unpredictable nature of pregnancy, it is considered the most challenging phase of every woman’s life. Once a pregnancy test reads positive, extra care and attention is been given to both the woman and they child she is carrying. The woman on the other hand is at this point most conscious of the child’s safe delivery.

For Alexandra Kinova, giving birth has not been an easy experience and so, she had to be extra careful with this one. She had assumed that this pregnancy will not be any easy – judging from her last experience and so, she sees this pregnancy as a very big challenge. But she is very ready to go through it one more time.

Even for woman who has gone through child birth before, a new pregnancy comes with its own unpleasant times. Alexandra had been occupied with the thoughts of what is coming up in the next few months of her pregnancy although she is conversant with the phases of pregnancy. The expectations of each month keep her both anxious and worried at the same time.

The pain of labor is gradually taking over Alexandra Kinova despite the fact she has been through the same pain labor and contractions in her first child birth. However, she is determined to be strong and prepare her mind for what is to come with this pregnancy but the harder she try, the harder it is for her to maintain a stress –free mind. She had no clue that this pregnancy will forever change their life.

For going through the pain of labor the second time after experiencing the first one, Alexander needs all the love and support she can get from close relatives especially the husband Antonin and the love and admiration from Antonin Kroscen was an encouraging factor. If only the second pregnant will be less complicated – they hoped because life in Milovice, Czech Republic is not all that nice.

Milovice has been a small and quite city with little or no international media coverage but Alexandra’s pregnancy made the difference. When Alexandra got pregnant and is approaching her delivery time, the city became a highlight for both local and international media as the home of Alex and Antonin. They are been considered the most influential couple in the city even before the third trimester of Alexandra’s pregnancy.

Taking care of their baby (Alexandra’s first child) while planning for the one also proved challenging for the couple but this is what they are determined to do since they have decided to expand the family and watch their firstborn grow up. Alex and Antonin are charged with the responsibility of parenting and expanding the family at the same time.

The expectation of the couple was to have a daughter since they already have a son. They hope that having a daughter will complete the family but Alexandra is having a strange feeling within her, she does not understand why she is so anxious to get pregnant. She just can’t wait to watch and experience as things unfold in her pregnancy journey. 

Alexandra and Antonin Kroscen’s love is the type of love one could describe as an “instant match.” They met in the city of Milovice in Czech and they had that unique feeling almost immediately and they decided to build a family together and seek to expand the family as soon as possible. And this might actually be the reason Alexandra wants to get pregnant so quickly.

Alex and Antonin has trait for twin running in the family and so, they really desire to have a twin their own twin. The desire keeps growing inside them each time they think of the pregnancy. To them, having twins is like the family legacy because their brothers and sisters are twins themselves and it will be nice if they have one too. They is always this fear in them if they would be able to keep the family “twin” legacy but this is a fear they have to either kill or try out themselves first by Alexandra getting pregnant. They also have some fears about delivery since Alexandra’s first delivery (coming from her pat relationship) had some complications, what is the guarantee that this one will not have the same complication. However, they are determined to expand their young family and that they want to do and they are strong for their decision.

Both Alexandra and Antonin are hopeful that this pregnancy will not be as difficult as the first one Alexandra had. They decided that if it was a twin, they are ok with three kids and they will be done with child bearing. On the contrary, what happened next to them may be called their nightmare.  To medical professionals and scientist, believes there is a chance for a couple to have twins especially if they already have the trait running their family. From professional perspective, it could be passed down from generation to generation. However, it is applicable to the maternal side because it is only the woman that produces multiple eggs that could be fertilized and turn out twins.

With this understanding, Alex became even more excited about the pregnancy. She knows that there is every possibility for her to have twins as she came from a family full of twins. The chances of having twins are even higher when both parents family has twins in them. Though Alex first child was not a twin, she has a strong feeling that is one is going to twins. 

The couple decided to consult a professional. The couple were so happy in 2003 when they learnt about the pregnancy after Alex had missed are monthly flow and had a pregnancy test which came out positive. This was the best news of the year for them and their joy knew no bound. As usual, pregnancies come with some morning sickness, increased sleeping times, and so on. Alex was ready for all of them. She has already gone through such before and she can manage this one.

With the home pregnancy test kit, the result shows positive but they need to be very sure about the result so that their happiness will not be cut short along the way; so they sort a professional assistance and they result also shows positive. They wanted a professional they already know and so, they went for the doctor that helped her deliver her first child and he was glad to see that she was pregnant again.

The gynaecologist had Alexandra go through test and the result shows that she was very healthy and in good condition. This also brought joy to the faces of the couple. They were glad they are having a baby finally. They look forward to going to their first ultrasound. They really want to know if they are having a twin or not.

Alex and Antonin are super excited about the ultrasound but they do not know that what they are about the learn will change their lives and become a news to the world. However, they have to wait for eight weeks since it is the usual time for the first ultrasound. Alex on the other hand was almost sure they are having a twin because the way she feel with this pregnancy is out of the ordinary (judging from her last pregnancy experience).

The day for the ultrasound finally arrived and the couple could not wait any longer. They got to the clinic for the ultrasound they the doctor in charge ushered them inside they ultrasound room and commenced the process. What followed afterwards, made Alex’s pregnancy a unique one in 500 years. The doctor was astonished and looked at the couple with an amazing smile. And Alex exclaimed “I KNEW IT”!

Going out from the hospital, Alex was disturbed because the doctor had asked her to come back for another ultrasound in her second trimester. The doctor didn’t her to do so in her first pregnancy. At a time, she just concluded that since it is a twin, that more care has to be adopted but still, the tone of the doctor while telling her about the second ultrasound still gave her serious concern.

Amazingly, the doctor only saw two foetuses when she carried out the first ultrasound but as the weeks goes by, Alexandra’s belly grew rather so big and it gave the husband some concern. During the second ultrasound, the couple had to ask the doctor if everything was alright but the the doctor was also surprised at what she can see and do not know how to break the news to the couple. Alexandra was not just going to have a twin but is expecting nothing less than four babies at a time.

The doctor couldn’t stop steering at the monitor. She was visibly shaking and was so astonished because she never thought she will experience such. She could only say the word “strange” and when she did, it became obvious to Alexandra and the husband that something was actually wrong with Alexandra’s pregnancy. This aroused their curiosity and they asked the doctor to open up to them and tell them what was strange about the pregnancy.

 Then she went back to the doctor for the ultrasound. The couple will not rest until the doctor tells them what was going on with Alex pregnancy. When the hit was on the doctor to spit it out, all she could say was Quadruplets!  This is wonderful. They had only hoped for twins, now they are getting four babies instead. The couple were overwhelmed by the good news and couldn’t find the exact way to express their joy. Nevertheless, they were also concerned about the welfare of Alexandra. Having four babies will also mean that the pregnancy sickness might be more, and also the labor pain might be elongated. At this point, Alexandra’s heath with that of the babies is everybody’s concern.

Towards the end of the second trimester, Alexandra’s belly was way too big and this caused her constant backache, some sleepless nights and a whole lot of other discomforts. It was a big challenge for her but her only consolation was that she was having four babies and there is no way it will be less stress than her first pregnancy was a child. She gets ready for her next ultrasound but didn’t know she has another surprise.

On Alexandra’s third ultrasound, her doctor was concerned that she was under a lot of stress due to the various health issues she was facing. To make her feel relaxed and have a good laugh, she started counting the number of heads inside her womb. The counting went on as- one, two, three, four, five. OH Wait, What do I see here? Oh My God, there’s a fifth baby!

The doctor being conversant with Alex situation and her health issues, she sort for a way to make her feel relax and ease off some stress. She started counting the heads of the babies in her womb and to her greatest surprise, there is a fifth HEAD!. Yes, Alexandra was going to have five babies and not four any more. The doctor confirms that this is the highest number of babies she has seen in on natural pregnancy.

The news of the the fifth baby was still a shock to the couple. Alexandra said that she started crying when they found the fifth head. In the ultrasound room, Alex had to ask the doctor to count again after she counted the first head the first time. The doctor had to count over and over again and each time she gets five heads and that was all the confirmation Antonin and Alexandra needed. They had wanted to know the sexes of the babies but it was too early to find that out but Alex wishes to have at least a girl among them. This moment is an emotional moment for the couple because they know that from that moment, life will not remain the same for them.

Alexandra’s pregnancy was rare and amazing and so, she became the doctor’s favorite patient. Having four babies is not an everyday thing let alone having five. The doctor was kin to know every stage of the babies development and was excited doing this job. The excitement was also found in Antonin who wants to be part of the process at every stage.

The local media awaits Czech Republic’s first quintuplets. This was the first quintuplets in Czech without an IVF. The pregnancy was a historical one in the country and the doctor has to do an in-depth test from time to time in order to confirm the numbers again. The development gladdens Alex’s heart but is also very interested in knowing sexes of the babies.

Alexandra’s babies was still a puzzle for the scientist and experts as they say that having four babies was already a rare situation and having five in one natural pregnancy is considered almost impossible. They said that the chances is just one in 55 million. But the scared ice-land has been found because Alex in having five babies through natural pregnancy. 

Giving birth to quintuplets in Czech Republic is a rare occurrence as it happens once in 480 years says Alena Mechurova, Alexandra’s doctor. Alex’s pregnancy is a historical event in Czech Republic and it may take a long while before they see such again.

The responsibility of carrying in the five babies was beginning to tell on Alexandra because she couldn’t do all the things she need to do and at the time she has to do them. The belly also has gotten even bigger and has added some discomfort to her normal everyday life. However, she was not disturbed because she was comforted with the thought that she was carry five babies and joy alone kept her going.

Alexandra had to go through more pain and could hardly do anything for herself because of the pregnancy. Although it was expected that this pregnancy will be more painful and stressful than the first one but it was not imagine that she will put her life on hold. However, the interesting part was that Alexandra was assigned a team of doctors in case of any emergency.

The team consists of forty doctors, midwives and other professional to help her through the pregnancy journey. As she draws close to the ninth month, she got herself ready for the big day. She really do not know how it will turn out but she was ready to go through it. She had the concern of experts assigned to her and the wishes of the whole country. The moment came and she brought into the world four boys and a girl through CS.

Alexandra gave birth to her babies at Prague’s Institute for the Care of Mother and Child. Zbynek Stranak, the institute’s neonatal section’s chief doctor  led the team of doctors. the delivery was without complications and they mother and the five babies were in good health. The leader of the team said that the babies has about 95% chance of remaining healthy as they grow. The process of the deliver bits everyone’s imagination as it went well without any complication.

The babies had to be place under observation in the NICU because they were very tiny and underweighted. They were given some of the thing they needed like minerals, vitamins, and fluids to help them adapt to their new world. The babies stayed only a month in observation and they went home. They were named; Deniel, Martin, Michael, Alex, and Terezka.

Antonin and Alexandra now have the big family they have always wanted. They actually had more than they were hoping for. They were planning a home with two or three kids if it were a twin but now they have six children to take care of. Nevertheless, however many the babies are Antonin and Alexandra made sure they were never left alone?

After the delivery, the next important occasion was the naming of the babies. The couple had to do some work in choosing their babies name. they finally gave them these names: The name of their sons were: – Daniel, Michael, Martin, and Alex, and Terezka was the name given to the baby girl. Antonin and Alexandra understandable needed a help in training the five babies and a toddler and they got all the help they needed.

From the financial aspect, the couple are not exactly comfortable. They had made plans for two children or three at most and now, they have six but they are still very happy with what they have and are hopeful. We all have to hope they stay happy together and the babies grow happily and strong.

So far so good, both the babies and their mother are healthy and happy and the babies are five years old now.
