Facts About Full & Fuller House That Makes No Sense
The 1980s and 90s were simpler times; viewers found happiness even in the most rudimentary and mundane storylines and waited eagerly for the TGIF lineup of shows. Family-based sitcoms were the most popular, and neatly packed life lessons were the primary focus of production houses. With shows like Full House, which rules the primetime slot for as long as eight years, the everyday situations were pleasantly portrayed.
We are sure many of you grew up with Tanner and co and still might miss the three daddies. Some time back, Netflix released a reboot of Full House, perhaps to cash in on the hit TV sitcom in the 80s. Aptly titled Fuller House, the show boasts stark similarities with the original series and focuses on the life events of Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler. However, we couldn’t help but notice 22 eerie parallels between the two shows. From a lazy style of writing to unreal set and many other things, here are the pointless similarities between Full House and Fuller House…. and some dark secrets few know about.
Two Staircases Strangely Lead to a single Hallway
The Tanner House is anything but average. Forget about the chaos that is a part of everyday life in the Tanner household; even the staircases are pretty weird. Did you notice that there’s one staircase in the kitchen and another in the living room, both leading to the upstairs hallway? Believe it or not, but in the Tanner House, two staircases will take you to the same hall, right outside the kids’ bedrooms.
Maybe this is some kind of a portal that we are unable to understand, or else, the camera is continuously placed on the other mysterious stairway. Then again it could be designed this way on Bob Saget’s request as he’s known to be incredible vulgar with kinky behaviors. This proves that Bob Saget is a pretty good actor because he is the polar opposite of the squeaky clean Danny Tanner.
Why on Earth would Steph Give Up Everything for DJ?
We couldn’t believe it when Stephanie gave up her successful career for her sister and quit DJ-ing altogether. Maybe she loved her a lot. Couldn’t she prefer to do a bit of traveling to support her sister and not give up everything for her? Steph’s life revolves around her sister is another unconvincing aspect of an already heavily DJ-centric plot, and we cannot digest it at all.
Few know that Jodie Sweetin was a meth addict for many years. After the original show ended, Jodie was 13 years old and had no job to go to. So drugs such as cocaine and esctasy was something to do. In her 2010 tell-all book unSweetined, she disclosed she snorted meth at the premiere of an Olsen twins movie in 2004. “I was pulling off the deceit,” she wrote (via Us Weekly). “It was hard for people to believe I was doing that much drugs. I look at photos from that event, and I didn’t even look strung out!” Sadly her love life has been a mess as well. Jodie is still in her 30s and has been in out of 3 broken marriages.
Every Character in Fuller House is a Celebrity
In Tanner House, everyone is super famous, which raises eyebrows. It’s an unreal household where Jesse is a massively successful musician-cum-composer for General Hospital. Danny and Rebecca secured a gig on national TV beyond Wake-Up San Francisco. Steph was a famous DJ, and Kimmy’s hubby is a renowned race car driver. Joey is a famous comedian who was offered to feature on a Vegas-based stand-up comedy show. It’s like the Tanner House members got hold of a Jeanie and got their wish to be famous and successful granted.
Reddit fans are convinced that Uncle Joey is the real biological father of the Tanner girls. Notice how DJ, Stephanie and Michelle are all blondes just like Uncle Joey meanwhile their “real” dad, Danny Tanner is a dark brunette? Hmm… another conspiracy theory is that Danny and Jesse are lovers and that Danny married Pam (Jesse’s sister) so that he can come off as a straight American man to protect his broadcasting career.
Two Generations Living in the Attic
Jesse and Rebecca (Aunt Becky) used to live in the attic after getting married, which we found quite strange. However, now they are raising their twins in the Tanner House’s cramped rafters, which is weird. Though Kimmy choosing to live in the attic isn’t that strange given that it’s Kimmy after all. But the entire scenario is a bit too unrealistic. Real estate in San Francisco might be too expensive, but one can definitely afford a small apartment… no?
So much for all virtuous Aunt Becky actress Lori Laughlin. Apparently Lori Laughlin was not at all squeaky clean when she got indicted in 2019 for paying half a million to Rick Singer (the ring master of what the FBI dubbed ‘Varsity Blue’ scandal) to cheat her daughters into getting admissions to the University of Southern California. She denied her involvement but but 2021, in the middle of the Wuhan Covid pandemic, Lori admitted her guilt and was sentenced to 2 months in prison. She got off easy.
DJ is a Mirror Image of her Dad
We all know that Danny Tanner raised his three daughters as a single dad after being widowed. Now we have DJ Tanner, who is raising her three boys after getting widowed recently. And on top of it, she’s raising her sons in that very home where she was raised. We understand that the producers are trying to create some nostalgia here, and the whole theme of the show is to bring back old vibes. But, at least the writers could have come up with a better storyline for DJ. Why they resorted to the same story and situation as that of her father’s?
Candance Cameron Bure has gotten into hot waters for her conservative views. Yet for being so conservative, her outwardly display of her sexual relationship with her husband with an Instagram photo “shock” the media… crazy! She’s a good wife and the media is up in arms.
Joey’s Personal Full House
Joey has the worst family on the show, not just that he is a terrible dad, but his kids are also awful. We believe that’s the reason why Joey always visits the Tanners sans kids. And do you remember once he even brought poisonous donuts for them? One thing every viewer would agree with is that Joey hasn’t made many sensible parenting decisions throughout Full House, so, why is he raising those little demons in the name of kids is simply incredulous.
Dave Coulier once dated Alanis Morrissette. Their relationship didn’t end so well so Alanis wrote “You Ought To Know” about him. The song was released in June 1995. Wonder if she still feels that way about Dave after all these years.
Presenting the Adult Kimmy
Kimmy is one of the most loved characters on Fuller House, and we must admit that her gorgeousness smites even us. She’s a go-getter who unapologetically goes after her dreams. She does whatever she loves to and displays a unique 80s inspired Pinterest-worthy fashion sense. Kimmy runs a successful party-planning business, dating a hot guy, and loves her daughter to bits. She’s definitely the perfect She Wolf for us.
Few knew that Kimmy’s real self, Andrea Barber dropped out of Hollywood after Full House ended. She traveled and lived in Switzerland, got a Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies from the University of York in England and worked for the United Nations. She only returned to acting as Kimmy Gibbler for Netflix’s Fuller House. Andrea has been outspoken about her own challenges and struggles with anxiety and depression and has been an advocate for mental health.
Just One Episode of Full House Was Recorded In San Francisco
In Fuller House, the Painted Ladies and other San Francisco townhouses are more amusing things about the show. You may find this trivia interesting that apart from one episode, the show was never really shot in San Fran. That particular episode was titled “Comet’s Excellent Adventure.” It appeared in the show’s eighth season. The San Francisco house that appears in the opening credits of the show was sold for a whopping $3.1 million back in 2014.
Michelle Tanner is noticeably missing as her character was not written into Fuller House because both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen declined to be part of the series. Initially Mary-Kate tweeted that she and her sister were not notified of the new series until John Stamos replied and “called b*llshit” to her tweet. She later admitted that due to not having acted in a very long time, she and her sister did not feel comfortable coming back for the sequel series.
The Jesse and the Rippers’ Connection
Let’s admit that Jesse is an intolerable show-off obsessed with his looks and the legendary singer Elvis. How he managed to stay in The Rippers for so long remains a mystery. Though the band eventually ditched him because he was a bit too busy with his family. That’s a hilarious reason to let go of your band member. The Rippers was led by Barry Williams and went on to become Berry and the Rippers. Jesse, on the other hand, formed another band called Hot Daddy and The Monkey Puppets. Yeah, you read it right, that’s the actual name. Sigh….
It was back in 2015 that John Stamos got pulled over for a D.U.I. He was also intoxicated with the date-rape drug GHB when he was pulled over. His mother’s death sent him into a downward spiral that he could not control. It was not too soon after that John checked himself into rehab.
Danny Dated Somebody The Same Age as DJ
Usually, Danny Tanner stays in his character, but sometimes even he can behave waywardly. That could be the time when he is busy channeling his polar opposite inner self, Bob Saget. In one of the episodes, Danny started dating a college student aged twenty-one, just when DJ was entering high school. Creepy. This move is anything but typical and definitely something we would expect from Joey or Jesse but not Danny.
Are we really surprised? Bob Saget is know to be a crude vulgar sick individual in real life. Perhaps this is just a glimpse of his true self for all viewers to see.
When Jesse Paid his Wedding Singers in Tomatoes
There’s no doubt that Jesse is a man child. Don’t you think that he is kind of immature? But, it’s a fact that he’s shown to be a responsible father in Full House, which is weird. Right before his wedding, Jesse goes skydiving and eventually gets arrested after landing in a pile of tomatoes. Then he shares a bus ride with a group of gospel singers and asks them to perform at his wedding.
They quickly agree. In a normal setting, the wedding singers would want to be paid in cash, but here Jesse pays them in tomatoes, and they are okay with it while we are simply dumbfounded.
Despite Receiving Severe Criticism, Both Shows are a Hit
The full and Fuller House both received bashing from critics, and some even went on to claim that those few minutes they spent watching Fuller House were their lives’ most excruciating minutes. But fans don’t care, and they have showered both the shows with immense love and acceptance. Moreover, the shows received many award nominations and even won a few awards. However, we believe that everything has been mediocre in the new outing from writing to acting and plot.
DJ Received Danny’s House as a Gift
Danny may be a control freak, but there’s no denying that he loves his kids. Did he love them so much that he handed over the keys of his multimillion-dollar home to DJ? And most importantly, why wouldn’t Steph or Michelle say anything or even try to stop Danny from giving DJ such an enormous gift. We do know that she lets everyone stay in her house for free and doesn’t really fret over all the extra groceries they have to do every week… just saying.
Why Becky and Jesse’s Children put up a No Show at their Vow Renewal
The original cast of Full House made a guest appearance on Fuller House as the show focuses on their next generation. Just about everyone has made a cameo so far. We think it’s weird that Alex and Nicky chose to visit the Tanner House on Thanksgiving instead of showing up at their parents’ vow renewal ceremony. They must be busy with their not-so-successful tack truck at the time.
Why No One Talks About DJ’s Old Home?
It makes no sense that DJ’s old house where she used to live with her husband before his death is never mentioned on the show. Whether she was a landlord and sold her house off, we may never get to know. And what about the logistics of shifting to a new home? How they got transferred to the new school? Why does everything on this show go on in a hush-hush manner? Even the seemingly harmless issued aren’t covered, that’s what makes this show a little more pointless.
The Tanners Never Take Anything to Heart
Kudos to the team behind Fuller House for handling the entire scenario related to Stephanie’s infertility sensitively. But this one instance aside, the Tanners never really handle matters as sensitively or sensibly. Such as, they just never mention their missing loved ones and never really grieve the way normal people do. We think it is quite weird. What about you?
Why DJ is so Fond of Steve
Strangely, DJ keeps picking Steve, who has been wooing her ever since she became single. In our opinion, Matt is a sure shot, poor man’s Thor, but positively. Both Matt and Steve have shown immense patience and support while Steph brought her life back on track. However, Steve has always been her preferred choice, and given their history, it’s not out of her character. But why would she pick Steve is beyond our understanding. Is it just because they have a past? You go, figure!
Michelle’s Reboot
The Olsen sisters are quite interested in the show’s reboot, but the writers need time to determine a solid reason behind Michelle’s absence and make it evident on the show a few times. We wonder why they didn’t use the same tactic they brought in Roseanne if they are so pressed for bringing in Michelle. She’s the youngest Tanner, after all. Maybe the Olsen Twins will get their fair share of screen time on the final season. But we are not sure at all!
When they Joked about Mental Health
It’s quite surprising that there has been no indication of Danny’s treatment for his neurosis or OCD. They also aren’t ever shown seeking health advice despite that parents are frequently dying on the show. In Full House, when DJ gets a car from Joey on her 16th birthday, she has no idea that it’s a stolen car, and later the family helps him face the police. Instead of telling the police what actually happened, they convinced the cops that Joey has low mental capacity and cannot function normally. That’s a direct hit at those who are facing mental health issues.
Jesse’s Absurd Video
Jesse’s love for his looks and hair is no hidden secret to anyone who is a fan of the two shows. He’s crazier than Becky when it comes to loving himself. So, it wasn’t too surprising that he created an emotional black and white video for his Beach Boy’s cover song Forever. The video was a bit outlandish and didn’t even go well with the overall theme and style. Full House was a family show, so you may not expect a video is showing lousy black and white art featuring a shirtless Stamos.
When DJ’s Food Became the Show’s Focal Point
Full House did attempt to tackle several social issues, including an eating disorder. However, as expected from the Tanners, they blew it out of proportion and killed the whole purpose of showing such a sensitive health issue. DJ starves herself to look chic at Kimmy’s pool party, which wasn’t the ideal way to discuss eating disorder.
Danny and Joey’s Drag Dressing
It looked odd that Joey and Danny decided to drag dress for their college reunion. The writers wanted to create slapstick humor, but it appeared dated and out of fashion even from the 80s standards. We weren’t certainly expecting someone to do drag dressing, considering that the show is based in a city famous for its strong appreciation for the LGBTQ community.
